チャールズ‐エリック・ビラード
1975年カナダのソレルに生まれる。
1998年、コンコーディア大学で文学研究科を卒業、インドを旅し、グループ展“ポスト・オーディオ・アッセンティック"(モントリオールのクラークギャラリーにて。)や“Amitie Urbaine et Revers Mondain"(ストラスバーグ)でおこなう。展示会ではヴィデオ作品や、コラージ、インスタレーションなどを出展した。
2001年より日本に在住、ヴィデオやコラージの作品制作に没頭している。ヴォイス・ボックスと題し、デザイナー・アーティスト・詩人・パフォーマー達の集うアートと詩のイベントを3年間手がけている。即興音楽のバンド“スモルダーリング・ドア"に所属している。 ステートメント 彼のヴィデオ作品は言葉では伝えきれないものを表現している。作品の中には必ず、見る人それぞれが筋書き通りには埋め尽くせない部分を残している。そうすることで個々の経験を視覚的に刺激できるのである。

Biography
Born in Sorel, Canada, in 1975. After graduating from Concordia University in Interdisciplinary Studies in Fine Arts in 1998, he traveled throughout India and took part in various group exhibitions, including “Post-Audio Aesthetics" (Clark Gallery , Montreal) and “Amitie Urbaine et Revers Mondain" (LAB, Strasbourg). In these exhibition centers his video works, collages and installations were presented. Since 2001, he has been living in Japan, pursuing video and collage work. For the past three years, he has been the organizer of an art/poetry event called “Voice Box", to which designers, artists, poets and performers attend. He also performs improvised music in a band called “Smoldering Door." Artist Statement His video work deals mainly with the impossibility for language to convey meaning. He invites the viewers to fill in the banks left on purpose in the narrative plot, so that they can project their own subjective meanings into the visual stimuli they're experiencing.
